After Bike Ride Smoothie

I have steered away from smoothies for a long time just due to thinking that they won't be very filling--I tend to be an over-eater. My sister and her husband drank them a lot and said great things about smoothies, especially putting spinach in them.  I decided to make one tonight after my bike ride--used Map My Run and it worked perfectly!

This was certainly delicious! I actually had to eat it with a spoon rather than drink it because of this wonderful product I heard about called xanthan gum. I think this will make a huge difference for me in regards to my thoughts about smoothies; it gives them more of a malt shake texture. 



I used a teaspoon for this smoothie. In the future, I will probably only use 1/2 teaspoon. 

Ingredients:
-8oz almond milk
-1/2 tablespoon chia seeds
-1 handful of spinach
-1 teaspoon xanthan gum (less next time)
-5 frozen strawberries (they were huge)
-5 ice cubes 
-1 scoop chocolate protein powder


All in all, I probably won't find myself snacking later on tonight. Happy for that!
