Map My Ride--Doesn't Cut It
Generally I use the Map My Run app and switch the workout from "run" to "bike ride," but I also have Map My Ride. Since I was going on a bike ride, it just made sense to use the latter. I fired up my Pandora Marky Mark station--ha!--pressed the start button on Map My Ride, heard the response, "Start workout," in the monotone, robotic voice, and was on my way. Generally, Map My Run tells me every 10 minutes or each mile--I'm not quite sure which way since I run a 10 minute mile--and today I was not getting any sort of response from the Ride app. I decided that it was just due to the app difference rather than stop to check it out. I took a new route from my normal routine to spice it up a bit and when I finished after about 30-40 minutes and went to press the "Pause workout" button and "slide to finish," it said that I had gone 0.02 miles. It didn't record any of it! I was furious because I did extra hills today and I like to see the amount of elevation at the end of the workout. I did go online to record it by hand on a map, but it sort of defeats the purpose of having the app on while you workout. Plus I don't know my interval times now. Ugh. It's not the end of the world, but needless to say, I will stick to Map My Run from now on.
