Ugly Sweater Run

So I'm training for the mini-marathon... and by training, I'm mostly running at random times on random days.  Treadmills are boring and the cold weather is heinous.  BUT, I did sign up for the Ugly Sweater Run for December 13th downtown at the White River State Park and followed through with it.  I couldn't get any friends to do it with me--and who can blame them for not wanting to run when it's 38 degrees out--but I had a good time all the same.  The event was sponsored by Sam Adams, which was also a plus that included a free beer at the finish line--woo!  The perks also included a ski cap with "Ugly Sweater Run" wrapped around it.

Throughout the 5k-course, there were photographers which, as it turns out, were fo' free! I'm glad I decided to smile for some of these anyway.
With all of the hats, I think of Where's Waldo? Chelsea?

Finish line!!

My goal for this was 32 minutes flat.  I think that the stairs at the beginning cut into a chunk of my time.  I was in the "second wave" of runners, and when I crossed the start line, I fired up Map My Run to track my workout, and then halted just around the corner. I'm not mad about the time though; that was pretty good for me and for not running for 2 weeks. I think my only regret about this run was that I didn't bring Dottie with me; there were some cute pups in sweaters!
