Kingsman: The Secret Service

Cole and I got sneak-preview screen tickets to see the movie Kingsman last week.  I was so tickled that it was at a theater that serves beer for the movies--I can't believe it took so long for people to think of that.  With Sam Adam's Cold Snap and popcorn and Reese's Pieces in hand, we really enjoyed the show!

To sum up the movie without any spoilers: rough kid is chosen to train and become an elite, secret agent.  Think high-action James Bond.

Lead actors: Colin Firth, Michael Cain, Mark Strong, Samuel L. Jackson--with a lisp. Fantastic!!, Taron Egerton (no, you probably haven't heard of him).

Christmas Movie Marathon

Now that Thanksgiving is over--and we have had day-after-thanksgiving breakfast--it is officially Christmas season!

Time to get the Christmas movie marathon rolling.  The following are watched over and over and over again, but it's kind of like pumpkin beer--they only make it for a month of the year, so you might as well go overboard with it.

We will begin with the most obvious...

1. A Christmas Story

Halloween Movies

I have been reminiscing on so many childhood memories whilst watching Halloween movies. I'm so glad that so many of my favorites for Halloween-- mostly not so scary--are playing lately.

Top picks (not all are being played currently--but should be, of course)

1. Hocus Pocus

Remembering a Great Actor

It was shocking to come home tonight and hear that Robin Williams was dead. So many of my favorite movies as a child to even now have him in it and that caliber of a movie is hard to find nowadays. Mrs. Doubtfire. Aladdin. Hook. Jumanji. The Birdcage. Jack. Flubber. Good Will Hunting. Patch Adams. August Rush. Night at the Museum. The Big Wedding.

Every year, I watch Dead Poets Society before a big lecture day with my students to inspire me to keep thinking outside the box in order to reach others and remind me the impact of the connections teachers made between teachers and students.

Sex Tape -- The Movie

My boyfriend, Cole, and I got sneak-preview tickets on Wednesday to see Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel in the movie, "Sex Tape."

My advice: You have to see it!! Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard. COLE laughed so hard. My mom asked if it was "over-the-top" that it would just gross her out. No. It was phenomenal.

The gist of the movie is that a married couple with two kids is in a rut with their sex life. I think the title and poster explain the rest.
